History of Ranikhet
It is said that this place was liked by Queen Padmini of Katyuri ruler Raja Sudhardev and she chose it for her stay. From here, tourists used to admire the amazing views of the Himalayas and the queen also used to enjoy the natural scenery. In 1869, the British made the headquarters of the Kumaon Regiment in Ranikhet and this station was used to get relief from the heat. Ranikhet is home to the Kumaon Regimental Center and the Naga Regiment. Which is now maintained by the Indian Army.
