The City of Chicago and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) have announced the full lineup and programming highlights for the 2024 edition of the beloved Chicago Blues Festival. Taking place from June 6 to June 9 as part of Millennium Park’s milestone 20th-anniversary season, this year’s festival promises four days of top-tier talent and unforgettable performances.
Celebrating Chicago’s Blues Legacy
Established in 1984, the Chicago Blues Festival holds the distinction of being the largest free blues festival in the world. Each year, it draws thousands of music enthusiasts from around the globe to Chicago’s Millennium Park. This year’s festival is no exception, featuring an impressive lineup of more than 250 artists performing across three stages throughout the weekend.
Special Opening Night Performance
Kicking off the festivities is a special opening night performance at the historic Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport. This unique venue sets the stage for an unforgettable evening of blues music, setting the tone for the weekend ahead.
Tribute to Buddy Guy
A highlight of this year’s festival is a special Sunday evening performance by living legend Buddy Guy. As part of his “Damn Right Farewell” tour, this performance marks one of Guy’s final concerts in Chicago. With eight Grammy Awards and a lifetime of contributions to the blues genre, Guy’s presence at the festival is sure to be a standout moment.

In addition to Buddy Guy, the festival boasts an impressive lineup of headliners, including award-winning blues, soul, and Americana singer Shemekia Copeland, “The Mississippi Blues Child” Mr. Sipp, GRAMMY-nominated Memphis-based Soul and Roots band Southern Avenue, and centennial tributes to Jimmy Rogers, Dinah Washington, and Otis Spann.
