Recent Decision
In response to a request from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Indian Railways has declined to allocate reservation quotas to Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel, citing logistical challenges and existing accommodation priorities.
Home Secretary Conveys Railway Board Chairman’s Response
Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla conveyed the reply of Railway Board Chairman Jaya Varma Sinha, stating that the matter was brought to the attention of the Ministry of Railways. The request aimed to provide CAPFs personnel with hassle-free journeys similar to those provided to Army personnel.
Accommodation Prioritization for CAPF Jawans
Sinha assured that instructions have been issued to accommodate CAPF jawans on a priority basis, recognizing their vital contribution to national security.
Appreciation for CAPFs Contribution
The Indian Railways acknowledges the significant role played by CAPFs in ensuring the safety and security of Indian citizens, especially during emergent and stringent conditions.
Facilitating CAPFs Personnel Journeys
Instructions already exist to prioritize CAPFs personnel for accommodation allocation out of the emergency quota. However, the Railway Board has reiterated its commitment to accommodating travel requests from CAPFs personnel to the best possible level.
Ensuring Equitable Travel Opportunities
While the Indian Railways appreciates the invaluable contribution of CAPFs personnel, logistical constraints and existing accommodation priorities have led to the decision to deny the reservation quota request. Efforts continue to ensure that CAPFs personnel receive necessary accommodations for their journeys.
