Embracing Wanderlust: Indian Travellers’ Quest for Diverse Experiences

Seizing the Opportunity

With two consecutive long weekends in March, courtesy of Holi and Good Friday, individuals have seized the chance to break away from their daily routines. The surge in online searches for holiday destinations, particularly with South Goa leading the pack, underscores this desire for rejuvenation and exploration.

A Shift in Travel Preferences

The latest insights from Airbnb highlight a significant shift in the travel preferences of Indian travellers. From the serene beaches of South Goa to the historical allure of European cities like Athens and Istanbul, Indian travellers are expanding their horizons, driven by the pursuit of varied and enriching travel experiences. They crave it all—beach retreats, cultural immersions, and mountain escapades.

Seeking Unique Experiences

“Indian travellers are increasingly seeking unique and memorable experiences, transcending traditional holiday seasons to embrace every opportunity for exploration,” notes Amanpreet Bajaj, General Manager at Airbnb India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. This evolving mindset reflects a deep-seated desire for novelty and adventure.

Rising Popularity of South Goa

South Goa emerges as the most sought-after destination for Indian travellers, experiencing a remarkable 330% surge in searches. Additionally, domestic gems like Varanasi, Jaipur, Mussoorie, and Manali witness a substantial increase of approximately 400% in search interest.

European Charms

Among the historic European trio, Athens reigns supreme, closely followed by Istanbul, Bangkok, and Rome. Indian travellers are captivated by the allure of beachfront locales, breathtaking views, and luxurious pools, as reflected in their search preferences.

Embracing Diversity in Travel

As Indian travellers continue to broaden their horizons, the landscape of travel experiences undergoes a transformation. From coastal paradises to cultural hubs, the quest for diversity and enrichment fuels their exploration.
