Akshay Kumar plants trees in honour of his parents

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar led a tree plantation drive in Mumbai in memory of his late parents Hari Om Bhatia and Aruna Bhatia and paid tribute to them.

Akshay said in a statement, “Planting trees is like a very small return gift from our side for what we have received from Mother Earth. Doing this in honour of parents makes it even more special for me.” The actor stressed that the tree plantation drive is a tribute to their love and care.

He said, “It is a tribute to their love and care and a promise to nurture and preserve the environment for future generations.

Akshay led the tree plantation drive on the Western Express-way at Kherwadi in Bandra on Monday morning.

The actor planted 200 Bahawa trees along with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani.

According to a statement, the initiative, launched in collaboration with the BMC, Brihanmumbai Municipal Tree Authority and Make Earth Green Again (MEGA) Foundation, is an important step towards restoring Mumbai’s precious green cover affected by Cyclone Taute.
The tree plantation drive has received support from prominent icons like Anil Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Abhishek Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Bappi Lahiri, Ajay Devgn, Sonu Nigam, Sangram Singh, Ranveer Shorey, Rohit Shetty, Hema Malini, Sonakshi Sinha and Ayesha Jhulka.
On the work front, Akshay was earlier seen in ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ opposite Tiger Shroff. He will soon be seen in ‘Sarfira’. In this film, he is playing the character of Veer Mhatre, who aims to create an affordable airline for low-income people.
This is the Hindi remake of South star Surya’s Tamil movie ‘Soorarai Pottru’. The film is inspired by the life of Captain G.R. Gopinath, founder of airline Simplifly Deccan.

Apart from Akshay, the film stars Paresh Rawal, Radhika Madan and Seema Biswas in important roles.
