Sara Ali Khan’s ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ – World Radio Day Premiere Revealed.

Ae Watan Mere Watan: Kannan Iyer’s period drama is based on the life of Usha Mehta, an Indian freedom fighter.

Prime Video has unveiled the global premiere date for its eagerly awaited original production, ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, to coincide with World Radio Day. Directed by Kannan Iyer and scripted by Darab Farooqui and Iyer, this historical thriller-drama is scheduled for its inaugural screening in March. Starring Sara Ali Khan in the lead role, alongside Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’Neil, and Anand Tiwari, the movie boasts a notable guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi.

 

‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ centers on an clandestine radio station led by a bold young woman, depicted by Sara Ali Khan. Drawing inspiration from actual events and honoring the legacy of freedom fighter Usha Mehta, it encapsulates the valor, nationalism, selflessness, and tenacity of Indian youth during the struggle for independence.

 

The film’s producer, Karan Johar, commended its compelling narrative and Sara Ali Khan’s performance, emphasizing the profound correlation between radio broadcasting and India’s quest for independence. He also underscored the serendipitous nature of announcing the premiere on World Radio Day.

 

Karan took to social media to reveal the release date alongside the motion poster, expressing, “In Hindustan, we bring to you a significant announcement on #WorldRadioDay.”

 

In a statement, KJo remarked, “At Dharmatic Entertainment, we have consistently prided ourselves on presenting narratives that emanate from the depths of the soul, and Ae Watan Mere Watan epitomizes that ethos. Kannan and Darab have drawn inspiration from a poignant juncture in India’s past and crafted a narrative replete with emotional depth, further elevated by Sara’s remarkable portrayal of a youthful revolutionary.”

 

Regarding ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, amidst the Quit India Movement of 1942, Usha Mehta (depicted by Sara Ali Khan) emerged as a prominent figure at Congress Radio, albeit its brief operational tenure. In 1998, Mehta was honored with the Padma Vibhushan.

 

‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ pledges to deliver a gripping cinematic voyage that venerates bravery, sacrifice, resilience, and steadfast allegiance to one’s homeland. The film is set to premiere on Prime Video on March 21st.
